Thinking about traffic speeds and the needs of vulnerable people, what type(s) of crossing do you believe are most suitable here?

• Dropped kerbs only • Don’t think that crossing the road here is good idea, unless there is yellow lines marked on the road especially outside the museum as this will hide people crossing. Speed along this road should be max 20mph if you’re

thinking of crossings. Timber lorries and SUVs and utes especially drive at 40 – 50 mph.

Thinking about traffic speeds and the needs of vulnerable people, what type(s) of crossing do you believe are most suitable here?

• Timber lorries are doing 40mph towards this bend and have already started to go over the central line to get around the corner. Unless there is huge signs saying pedestrians crossing near this corner, I think there will be accidents as pedestrians might gamp,e that a car or lorry will stop.

For the whole of Laggan Road as presented, is there anything else we should consider?

Not sure what type of footpath this will be. A a totally new tarmac footpath 2m and 3m is probably a bit excessive and would be so expensive in that I think money could be used elsewhere. There is certainly a danger to pedestrians here, but again dangerous because of excessive speed by all traffic and log trucks and tankers. Speed should be no more than 20mph as you come into the village and proper speed cameras fitted. We already have signs asking to reduce speed because for red squirrels crossing, but nobody slows down. The speed restriction signs should be moved before the Calder bridge as you head from the west into the village and as you’ll leave it. Drivers are still driving at 60 – 70 over the Calder Bridge and have the momentum as it swings them down over the Calder and down past Banchory Mains, no footpath, and down past Coig and Shee B&B, again no footpath. If the speed signs were further back it

might make drivers slow down before they get into the no pavement walking route.

Do you agree that an improved crossing should be created at this location?

Thinking about traffic speeds and the needs of vulnerable people, what type(s) of crossing do you believe are most suitable here?

• Raised crossing • Formal crossing — zebra

Is there anything else we should consider?

The present speed sign is obscured by traffic lights. No parking outside former Bethany shop and post office as this hides children crossing. Larger road markings may help. We have to reduce the speed through the village to 20mph.

Is there anything else we should consider?

Can’t work out the best plan but it does need road marking and signage.

Is there anything else we should consider?

I don’t use this area so don’t know if I can respond. If the community action is going to improve the look of this area then I’m sure it will be helpful.

Final thoughts

Speed restriction through the village and sensible parking. Some residents park on footpath as it is so wide but this can be good for visually impaired or for disable buggies. I think we have to think about how much needs to be spent on areas that don’t have good pavements if we continue to allow vehicle drive at such high speeds who a danger to walkers cyclists and wheelchair users.
