Formal consultation opens on amended Core Paths Plan

Formal consultation opens on amended Core Paths Plan

A formal consultation on the amended Core Paths Plan is now open.

The Plan, a statutory duty of the Park Authority, designates a network of paths that provide the public with reasonable access to enjoy the outdoors across the Cairngorms National Park.

It helps the Park Authority and partners to prioritise resources and path development projects, support sustainable visitor management, minimise impacts on sensitive species and habitats and ensure the access needs of communities are met and incorporated into planning and development.

The first Core Paths Plan was adopted in 2010, with a revision published in 2015. Last year, following an internal review, an informal public consultation invited suggestions for further revisions or changes.

The amended Core Paths Plan was developed following a review of that feedback. A formal 12-week consultation is now inviting responses or objections to the proposed amendments to the current (2015) Plan.

You can find out more and view the proposed amendments on our website. A copy is also available to view in person at the Cairngorms National Park Authority offices at 14 The Square, Grantown-on-Spey, PH26 3HG.

Any responses must be made in writing through the website form, by email to [email protected] or in writing to the above address. The consultation closes on 21 August 2026.
