There is still active firefighting taking place and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, partners, gamekeepers, estate staff and volunteers remain on the scene, working around the clock. They are monitoring the situation closely and taking action to respond to flare ups, supported by the use of thermal drones.

Weather conditions continue to be a less predictable factor. It is forecast that the wind direction will change and that rain is on its way, both of which may have an impact over the coming days.

Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have shared a further written update asking people to stay away from the following locations:

• Paths around Glenmore, Loch Morlich and Badaguish.
• Low-level routes including the Old Logging Way and routes providing access to Cairngorm Mountain, the Northern Corries, Meall A’ Bhuachaille, the Green Lochan (Lochan Uaine), Strath Nethy or Bynack More.
• Paths within Abernethy Forest to the south of Forest Lodge towards Ryvoan Bothy also remain closed.

This incident has had a big impact on local businesses and the surrounding communities. Highland Council are leading support for businesses within the restricted area, which we are supporting alongside Business Gateway, the Scottish Government and Highlands and Islands Enterprise. We are also liaising closely with the Cairngorms Business Partnership on this matter.

We know that a lot of people are understandably concerned about the impact of the wildfire on nature in the National Park. Unfortunately it is still too early to know the full extent of the damage and it is not yet safe to access all of the site to establish this. However, we are meeting with partners early next week to discuss next steps.
