The Evidence Report for the next Local Development Plan for the Cairngorms National Park has been agreed by Scottish Government ministers.  

The plan will set out where development could take place over the next 10 years, while ensuring that the National Park’s landscapes, communities and natural environment are protected and enhanced. 

The agreement follows two years of evidence gathering, consultation and engagement with people who live and work in the National Park, including a ‘Call for Sites and Ideas’ earlier this year. The consultations were an important early stage in the planning process and provided the opportunity for people to make suggestions that will help shape future planning policies and development priorities across the National Park. 

We would like to thank everyone who took the time to attend our events, provided feedback in person or online, and shared ideas and submitted sites for consideration.  

What happens next? 

Over the next 12 months, we will begin work on the Proposed Plan, which involves assessing sites and drafting policies. This will include our planning team meeting with community councils and associations to discuss place-based information and local priorities. 

This work will help inform the preparation of the Local Development Plan and ensure that local knowledge and community perspectives continue to shape the plan as it develops.
