Public asked for views on Gaelic Language Plan
The Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) wants members of the public and interested organisations to give their views on its draft Gaelic Language Plan.
The Gaelic Language Plan sets out how we will use and develop Gaelic in day to day work and how we will enable and promote the use of Gaelic when communicating with members of the public and key partners.
CNPA Convener David Green said: “The Cairngorms is an area proud of its cultural and linguistic diversity. There is a rich history of Gaelic in the Cairngorms National Park and we are keen to enhance and promote this. We recognise that the position of Gaelic is extremely fragile. The draft plan sets out how we can take steps to help revitalise Gaelic.
“We need members of the public, in particular Gaelic speakers, to comment on our Plan so we can assess how they can best be supported while promoting the language and our culture.”
A six week public consultation on the Draft Gaelic Language Plan will run from Monday 8 November 2010 – Friday 17 December 2010. The Draft Plan is available here and at the CNPA offices in Grantown-on-Spey and Ballater, and public libraries in the Park.
