Cairngorms National Park Partnership Plan, 2027 - 32
From pioneering conservation work to inspirational community projects, we’ve achieved a great deal since the Cairngorms National Park was established almost 25 years ago. None of that could have been done without a mammoth team effort.
The National Park Partnership Plan sets out how all those with responsibility for the National Park will co-ordinate their work to tackle the most important issues. At its heart is a long-term vision to ensure the National Park is a place where nature and people thrive together.
In particular, this Partnership Plan:
- Sets out the vision and overarching strategy for managing the National Park.
- Guides the work of all public bodies and other partners to deliver the aims of the National Park.
- Provides the strategic context for the Local Development Plan.
- Is the Strategic Regional Land Use Framework and Regional Spatial Strategy for the National Park.
- Is the Climate Adaptation Plan.
- Is the Economic and Sustainable Tourism Strategy for the National Park.
This draft Partnership Plan also pledges to build on the work of the Cairngorms 2030 programme to ensure its impact continues for years to come.
We are aware that those reading this draft Partnership Plan will have different interests and priorities. However, we would encourage you to consider the draft Partnership Plan as a whole and provide feedback on all three missions as there is inevitably crossover between them.
This document contains the draft Cairngorms National Park Partnership Plan for 2027 to 2032, which is open for public consultation from 14 October 2026 until 13 January 2027. This plan outlines a long-term vision for the National Park to be a place where nature and people thrive together, addressing key challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss, and supporting strong communities. It is organised into three main missions: nature and climate resilience, communities, and National Park for all, detailing specific actions, targets, and the tools the Cairngorms National Park Authority will use in partnership with others to achieve these important goals.
