Oliver Davies, Head of Communications and Engagement
Olly Davies has a background in communications, engagement, fundraising and membership. Over the past 20 years he has held leadership positions in a variety of industry sectors – from conservation to the arts, education and publishing – and has managed some of Scotland’s most recognisable brands.
Olly joined the Park Authority in January 2021 as Head of Communications and Engagement, managing a cross-disciplinary team of media, digital, publications, community engagement and economic development / tourism specialists. Collectively, the team’s role is to champion efforts to conserve and enhance the UK’s largest national park, and to connect the Park Authority’s work with its key audiences on the ground.
Prior to joining the Park Authority, Olly led the marketing and development function for the charity behind the world’s largest arts festival, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, and has also held leadership positions at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) and the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

The new fire byelaw
How the Cairngorms National Park Authority and its partners are tackling the threat of wildfires, including details on the recreational fire management byelaw, in place from 1 April to 30 September each year.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has issued a wildfire warning impacting areas of the National Park on Friday 29 May until Monday 1 June. If you are out and about in the Cairngorms National Park please observe the following guidance:
- Do not light any fire or barbecue, in line with the new fire byelaw
- Always ensure cigarettes are fully extinguished and take your litter (including glass) away with you
- Enjoy the outdoors responsibly - most wildfires are caused by human activity
- Stay alert - with dry vegetation and warm weather, fires can start easily, spread rapidly, and burn intensely
- If you see a wildfire, dial 999
