Board Meeting - March 2021

This plan is a key document for influencing future building development within the Cairngorms National Park and guides new developments, ensuring there's enough land in suitable locations for housing, jobs, and services, while protecting the environment. The plan has sections on vision, spatial strategy, policies and community information, and covers the next 5 years with a longer view up to 20 years. The Cairngorms National Park Authority sets the planning policy, working with local authorities, and will assess planning applications in line with the Cairngorms National Park Partnership Plan and the Local Development Plan.

This document contains a letter from the Scottish Government to Dan Harris, Planning Manager for the Cairngorms National Park Authority, regarding the Cairngorms National Park Authority Local Development Plan 2020. Scottish Ministers have decided that the proposed plan is unsatisfactory and are directing the Cairngorms National Park Authority to modify the plan to include up-to-date information regarding the dualling of the A9 carriageway, as this is a major transport infrastructure project with implications for settlements in the Cairngorms area, directing the users of the plan to the Transport Scotland website for the latest A9 dualling route information. The letter asks for confirmation that the authority will modify the plan. An annex to the letter specifies that the added instruction should be applied to the pages regarding Aviemore, Kingussie, Newtonmore, Blair Atholl, Carr-Bridge, Bruar & Pitagowan, Calvine, Dalwhinnie, and Killiecrankie.
