Fire management byelaw - owner guidance

This document contains guidance from the Cairngorms National Park Authority for landowners, managers, and occupiers regarding the new Fire Management Byelaw, which comes into force on 1 April 2026. Operating annually from 1 April to 30 September, the byelaw restricts fires and barbecues to reduce wildfire risk. However, it permits them in specific circumstances: within private gardens of dwellinghouses, at holiday accommodations (with consent), in licensed caravan and camping sites (with owner permission), and in bothy fireplaces.
