AVCC would like the fol­low­ing com­ments to be con­sidered as part of the plan­ning process.

1. The pro­ject is much needed and should be imple­men­ted as soon as feas­ible, without wait­ing for the A9 dualling work
2. More detail is sought on the junc­tion between the NMU and Aviemore Orbit­al around the point where the Orbit­al crosses the B9152
3. The cross­ing to Oak­wood Cara­van Park has already been iden­ti­fied as a high risk. More detail is required on this sec­tion of the NMU.
4. The entrance to the tip and busi­ness units at Gran­ish is sub­ject to increas­ingly heavy traffic. Again, more detail on design and road mark­ings etc is required.
5. The intro­duc­tion of traffic lights where the NMU crosses the A95 just north of the pro­posed new round­about is welcomed.

Com­ment Details Com­menter Type: Com­munity Coun­cil Stance: Cus­tom­er made com­ments in sup­port of the Plan­ning Applic­a­tion Com­ment Reas­ons: Com­ment: The newly re-formed Car­rbridge Com­munity Coun­cil wishes to indic­ate its full sup­port for the cre­ation of the non-motor­ised users route from Aviemore to Car­rbridge (ACN­MU). Since the Com­munity Coun­cil has been in abey­ance for the past two years, it has not in that time been pos­sible to form­ally express loc­al sup­port for the pro­ject through this stat­utory plan­ning con­sul­tee. Although it is clear that con­sulta­tion has been extens­ive and wide pub­lic engage­ment sought, we wish our sup­port to be added at this stage.

In the absence of a com­munity coun­cil, loc­al res­id­ents through the NMU Cam­paign Group have been ener­get­ic in express­ing sup­port, and also in cam­paign­ing for the sec­tion that runs along­side the B9153 from Car­rbridge to Kin­veachy junc­tion to be giv­en pri­or­ity and to be dis­en­tangled from the arrange­ments being made for the dualling of the A9.

We would like to add our voice to that request.

Our under­stand­ing is that the Trans­port Min­is­ter, Fiona Hyslop has writ­ten to the NMU Cam­paign group to say that con­sid­er­a­tion will be giv­en to sep­ar­at­ing the smal­ler pro­ject from the big­ger, sub­ject to the rel­ev­ant stat­utory con­di­tions being ful­filled and land acquis­i­tion being complete.

We are hope­ful that the Car­rbridge to Kin­veachy sec­tion of the route can go ahead as soon as pos­sible. There are only two landown­ers involved, Seafield Estate and Land­mark, and since the route is sep­ar­ated from the A9 by the rail­way, there should be no inter­face with the require­ments of the dualling works. The pro­ject could be con­sidered quite independently.

The immense increase in safety for ped­es­tri­ans and cyc­lists is surely to be wel­comed as soon as can be made possible.

We will be happy to sub­mit fur­ther let­ters of sup­port in future and as required.
