We note that CNPA have called in this applic­a­tion and have read with interest all con­tri­bu­tions registered.

The Com­munity Coun­cil ini­tially con­sidered that it should not com­ment on an applic­a­tion on private land. How­ever, hav­ing read the sub­mis­sions we note that it has been argued that there may be no require­ment for addi­tion­al camp­ing facil­it­ies with­in Bal­later. The Coun­cil does not agree.

Deeside depends upon tour­ism for the large part of its eco­nomy. Cur­rently the Bal­later Cara­van Park is turn­ing away large num­bers of vis­it­ors dur­ing the sea­son. Motor home drivers are using Cam­bus o’May car park, Church Square car park and Mon­al­trie Park for overnight park­ing. None are suit­ably equipped and dis­pos­al of grey and oth­er waste is a real issue.

Whilst we leave it to the plan­ning author­ity to bal­ance the eco­nom­ic interests of the landown­ers and their neigh­bours, we would wish to stress that there is cur­rently a sig­ni­fic­ant short­age of loc­al accom­mod­a­tion gen­er­ally, wheth­er hotels or for cara­vans, motor homes and campers.
