Local Development Plan interactive map engagement report 2024

This document contains a report detailing the engagement process for the Cairngorms Local Development Plan's interactive map, which gathered public feedback from 9 August to 9 October 2023. The Cairngorms National Park Authority used this online platform to understand issues facing places within the National Park and how the new plan could address them. Key concerns raised by local residents, business owners, and community groups included a significant lack of affordable housing, inadequate public transport links, and tensions arising from high tourist numbers impacting local communities. Many participants felt previous efforts hadn't effectively resolved these issues. Additionally, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) provided feedback, emphasizing the need for robust nature networks, ambitious targets for nature recovery and biodiversity enhancement through planning, and critical protection for the Capercaillie, with over 85% of its remaining population found within the National Park.
