This document contains important guidelines for enjoying the Cairngorms National Park responsibly and helping to protect its special environment. To prevent wildfires and safeguard wildlife, campfires and barbecues are banned between 1 April and 30 September; if you are cooking, please use a gas stove. When exploring, keep your dog on a lead, especially from April to August in areas where ground-nesting birds are present, as this protects their vulnerable eggs and chicks. If you are camping, remember to leave no trace by setting up away from buildings and paths, moving your campsite every few days, and always taking all your rubbish with you. When you need to use the toilet outdoors, move at least 30 metres from any water sources, dig a small hole for solid waste, and carry out all toilet paper. Finally, if you are enjoying the water, be mindful of wildlife and other users, respecting any conservation signs and avoiding nesting areas.
