This document contains important guidelines for respecting nature and others when visiting Cairngorms National Park. To protect wildlife and prevent fires, remember there is a ban on open fires and barbecues from 1 April to 30 September; instead, use gas stoves for cooking. If you're bringing a dog, please keep it on a short lead, especially from April to August, to avoid disturbing ground-nesting birds, and always stay clear of farm animals. When wild camping, leave no trace by pitching away from buildings and paths, camping for only a few nights, and taking all rubbish with you. If there are no public toilets, make sure to go to the toilet at least 30 metres away from any water and bury your waste, taking toilet paper with you. Finally, respect other water users and wildlife by staying away from nesting areas when enjoying activities like kayaking or swimming. By following these simple rules, you'll help keep the National Park special for everyone.
