Approval for River Tromie realignment
Approval for River Tromie realignment
An application for detailed planning permission to realign approximately 400 metres of the River Tromie, near Dell of Killiehuntly Farmhouse, Kingussie, was approved today by the Cairngorms National Park Authority Planning Committee.
It follows a site visit on 10 October, which allowed members to view the route of the proposed realignment, the site and its relationship to Invertromie Steading.
The River Tromie project aims to reinstate a more natural river form and flow process, enhancing biodiversity and improving flood resilience on land to the east of the existing river channel, as well as drying up agricultural land at Dell of Killiehuntly Farm.
This work helps deliver on the National Park Partnership Plan nature objective for freshwater systems, which aims to restore and connect rivers to thriving wetlands and floodplains as part of a wider restoration of the National Park's freshwater systems, helping mitigate the impacts of climate change.
Two retrospective planning applications for upgrades to forestry tracks on land near Loch Beun, A’Chlaidheimh, Carrbridge, were also approved today, subject to conditions.
All reports and papers relating to the Planning Committee meeting are available on this dedicated page on our website.
