There is hopeful news today from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service that the Glenmore corridor will reopen to the public this Friday, subject to the continued successful efforts to deal with hotspots. This can, of course, only be confirmed once emergency services are content that the area is safe, and that all appropriate signage and traffic management is in place. Further updates will follow once this has been established.

Gavin Miles, Director of Planning and Place, said: "Glenmore is a vibrant and much-loved corner of the National Park, favoured by visitors and locals alike. We know that people will be keen to return to the area and that businesses are gearing up to welcome visitors through the door again soon. Though some areas directly impacted by the fire will continue to be fenced off and restricted, it is positive that – all going well – businesses will be able to reopen very soon.

"This has been a challenging time for local businesses, who have had to cope with significant disruption and uncertainty, in addition to the heartache of seeing the wildfire unfold in this beautiful place. Supporting businesses in Glenmore, Nethy Bridge and across the National Park – by booking lunch or dinner, finding an exhilarating activity or treating yourself to a few days away – will help enormously as we continue to work together on the road to recovery."
