The Cairngorms National Park Authority Planning Committee has approved developments today (Friday 22 April) for sixteen new homes, sections of track at Cairngorm Mountain and also agreed to object to a windfarm development on the outskirts of the Park.

Planning permission was granted to turn the former Struan House Hotel in Carrbridge into ten affordable flats and in Killiecrankie, six new houses were given the go ahead on the site of a former railway yard.

At Cairngorm Mountain, an application for two short sections of track were given consent. The proposed tracks will rationalise the track network around the Base Station and Shieling buildings in light of recent changes to the funicular. Redundant tracks will be restored to their natural state as a result.

Finally, members agreed to submit an objection to the Scottish Government Energy Consents and Deployment Unit opposing proposals for a wind farm six miles north west of Grantown-on-Spey. The Lethan windfarm project would comprise of 17 towers at 185m in height.
