New cycle hub fund calls for wheely good ideas
The Cairngorms National Park Authority has announced new funding designed to help local communities and partners identify and deliver projects for that make it easier for people to choose active,sustainable travel, particularly cycling, for everyday journeys.
Supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund through the Cairngorms 2030 programme, funding is available for cycle parking and secure cycle storage, public e bike charging infrastructure, public repair stands with tools, cycle fleet bicycles for short term loan including e bikes, community led rides and community maintenance services and classes.
At this stage, funding is available in Aviemore and Glenmore, Grantown-on-Spey and Ballater. Other communities within the National Park are encouraged to express an interest for consideration in future funding rounds by completing the form on the funding page on the Park Authority’s website.
Colin Simpson, Head of Visitor Services and Active Travel at the Cairngorms National Park Authority said, “This fund is about empowering communities to shape transport solutions that work for them. By supporting locally led cycling projects, we want to make it easier and more appealing for people to choose active travel, while strengthening connections within and between our communities.”
Organisations and groups interested in applying are invited to complete an expression of interest form. Once submitted, the team will be in touch to arrange a meeting to discuss ideas before inviting applicants to make a full application.
