Reporters appointed for Cairngorms National Park Local Plan Inquiry

AN inquiry into the Cairngorms National Park Local Plan is set to be held in May. Two Scottish Government Reporters are to sit in sessions in different parts of the Park and will work as a team in resolving outstanding issues and helping determine the final shape of the Local Plan.

Members of the Cairngorms National Park Authority’s (CNPA) planning committee were updated on the timetable when they met in Ballater today. (Friday 9 January).

Although no firm date has yet been set the Reporters’ unit has confirmed to the CNPA that two Reporters would be available from May. They are Professor Hugh Begg and Jill Moody.

Duncan Bryden, convener of the CNPA planning committee said: “Both these individuals are highly experienced planners who have worked with the Reporters Unit on a number of inquiries.

“Having two Reporters has a number of advantages and I welcome the announcement that the inquiry should go ahead in May.

“Exact dates have yet to be fixed and stakeholders will be contacted in due course with further details of the arrangements being made.

“I am pleased that people across the Park can take part in this important inquiry as we move towards the first dedicated Local Plan for a Scottish National Park.”
