Draft Partnership Plan consultation goes live

A public consultation is now open for the next Cairngorms National Park Partnership Plan, giving people the chance to play a part in shaping the next five years of priorities for the UK’s largest National Park.

The Partnership Plan guides the work of the Park Authority and its partners. At its heart is a long-term vision to ensure that the National Park is a place where nature and people thrive together.

The draft Partnership Plan 2027 - 32 is the most ambitious yet and is built around three missions:

  • Nature and climate resilience, including sustainable farming and upland management, native woodland expansion, peatland and river restoration as well as action on key species
  • Communities, with a focus on affordable housing, business and enterprise, transport and cultural heritage
  • A National Park for all, improving access and visitor management, volunteering and addressing barriers so that everyone can and feels able to enjoy the National Park.

Sandy Bremner, Convener at the Cairngorms National Park Authority, said: “We want to go further and faster than ever before in helping people and nature overcome the growing challenges they face. That is why this Partnership Plan is the most ambitious in the history of the National Park.

“It sets the direction for everything the Park Authority and our partners will deliver over the next five years, so it is vital that it reflects the views of the people who live, work and visit here. Now that the draft is ready, we are delighted to open it up for feedback.

“So, if you want to help the National Park step up our pioneering work for everyone’s benefit, this is your chance to inform what we do through to 2032.”

Grant Moir, Chief Executive of the Cairngorms National Park Authority, said: “We are proud to be a place for innovation, trialling new ways of meeting the key challenges of our time. This draft Partnership Plan makes the case for the changes that will have the biggest positive effect on the National Park.

“This affects us all, so we are keen to hear your views as we shape our collective priorities for the next five years.”

The informal consultation runs until 13 January 2027. To read the draft plan and accompanying environmental report, and take part in the consultation, visit: cairngorms.co.uk/partnershipplan

Park Authority team members will host or attend events being held in communities around the National Park, where people can ask questions and provide feedback on the draft Partnership Plan. More details will be added to the events page here: cairngorms.co.uk/taking-part/events
