Colin McClean, Head of Land Management
Colin joined the Cairngorms National Park Authority in 2021 from Glen Tanar Estate, having previously worked for the Deer Commission for Scotland.
Throughout his career, Colin has been involved in various forms of practical land management, specialising in deer management, pinewood and upland management, and was involved in the development of the 1996 Act governing the conservation and management of deer in Scotland.
Before joining Glen Tanar Estate as Wildlife Manager, Colin managed the Abernethy National Nature Reserve for the RSPB and brings with him a wide range of experience to his role at the Park Authority. In this role, he works closely with nature colleagues and partners, overseeing all areas of land management including deer management, woodland creation, moorland and peatland restoration and playing an important role in the Cairngorms working to become the UK’s first net zero National Park.
