Workshop 2 - Enriching Nature

This document contains the main points raised at the Cairngorms Climate Conference held on 9 March 2020. The workshop focused on enriching nature as a way to help the Cairngorms mitigate and adapt to climate change. Attendees were divided into five working groups, each creating a proposal. Key topics discussed included expanding peatland restoration, managing grazing (specifically deer numbers), restoring natural processes through ecosystem improvements, optimizing land use for multiple benefits, and banning muirburn. Priorities moving forward involve a strong focus on land use, reducing deer numbers, increasing peatland restoration capacity, and linking ecosystem services to habitat restoration to showcase public benefits.
