Glenmore fire update - 20 July at 9pm
Progress is continuing to be made, but we are not complacent - there is still a lot being done on the scene to manage hotspots and monitor the site. Two helicopters were in operation again today, waterbombing the area.
With the weather forecast to be dry until the weekend and a very high wildfire warning now extended until Friday, it's all the more reason to be cautious.
Over the past week the support has been truly outstanding - from volunteers fighting the fire to community groups donating supplies and hundreds of messages of gratitude to boost morale of those on the frontline. Thank you to everyone for an incredible response to what continues to be a difficult situation, particularly fire crews, gamekeepers and estate workers, RSPB Loch Garten, Abernethy RSPB Scotland, Forestry and Land Scotland and Cairngorm Mountain Resort staff, helicopter pilots, local contractors, and farmers.
We will continue to post updates on our website, Facebook and Instagram as the situation develops.
