Active communities

Working with local communities, this project is making it easier and safer for residents and visitors to get around the Cairngorms National Park, unlocking new and existing travel choices for all.

By improving active travel infrastructure, paths and crossings, it will be more enjoyable for people to walk, cycle or use a wheelchair in our public spaces. Through Cairngorms 2030, this project is placing active travel at the heart of a greener and healthier future and connecting people to the local heritage of the National Park.

  • A group of people walking on woodland trail surrounded by trees.

Building on the engagement work and consultation with local communities so far, this project is now progressing through the design and construction stages. From small changes to pavements and crossings, to larger developments such as new or improved paths connecting villages, this project demonstrates what can be achieved in rural areas.
