Climate conscious communities

Climate Action Hubs in Highland, Moray, Angus, Aberdeenshire and Perth and Kinross provide support, funding and training to help their areas become more climate friendly. This project is building on the hubs’ knowledge and experience, with a focus on communities within the National Park.

There are Climate Action Hubs in each of the five local authority areas within the Cairngorms National Park boundary.

  • Boat of Garten Repair Cafe
  • People planting at a tree nursery

This project works closely with the hubs to deliver a programme of activities and events to engage communities and climate interest groups, and support grassroots climate action in the National Park. Themes range from sustainable transport and active travel to habitat restoration, local growing spaces and sustainable home energy.

This will be facilitated by the community managed climate grant scheme which will provide a valuable source of funding for climate action projects.

The project will provide added value by coordinating activity and sharing information across the National Park, engaging with harder to reach communities.
