Core Paths Plan consultation

Two people walking along a tree lined forest path on the Deeside Way.

The informal consultation on the review of the Park Authority’s Core Paths Plan is now open, closing on 31 August 2025.

Put simply the Core Paths Plan is a mapped network of paths that ensures people can exercise their access rights across an area. It is a statutory duty of the Park Authority that we have, and review regularly, a Core Paths Plan.

We have done an initial review of the Core Paths Plan and identified, and are proposing here, various amendments to be made to the plan. These amendments take the form of re-alignments (corrections), removals (de-designations) and our suggestions for additional paths to be designated as core paths (additions). At this point, we are proposing adding 79km of core path to the network and removing 11km.

At this early stage in the process, we are inviting anyone to feed into the informal consultation of the Core Paths Plan review, to be followed by a statutory consultation at a later stage in the review process, likely spring 2026. We would like to hear any feedback on our proposed amendments through our interactive map, or by email quoting the core path reference number available on the map here or from this list. You are also welcome to comment on the sufficiency of the Plan as a whole and highlight any other suggested additions that would add value to the core paths network.

This informal consultation stage will be open until 31 August 2025, and we are happy to meet with community organisations, land managers and other stakeholder groups if you would like to discuss the Core Paths Plan review in person.
