Deposit Local Plan for Cairngorms National Park: Consultation closes in 2 weeks!
10th September 2007
The deadline for commenting on the Deposit Local Plan for the Cairngorms National Park is fast approaching.
Friday 28 September is the final day to submit comments and objections – which must be in writing – before the deposit period closes. The Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) encourages and welcomes comment on this important document.
There are still several stages for the Local Plan to go through following this. Consideration will be given to all representations and the Board of the CNPA – probably early next year – will consider modifications that could address any objections arising from the deposit period consultation.
Modifications will themselves be the subject of further consultation with unresolved objections being considered at a Local Plan Inquiry in 2008. It is expected to be at least another year before the Local Plan is formally adopted.
The Cairngorms National Park Deposit Local Plan sets out proposed policies, guidance and management for development and land use in the Park for a five year period. Once it has been formally adopted it will replace the local plans currently in existence for the four local authority areas covering the Park: Aberdeenshire; Highland; Moray and Angus.
It was drawn up by the CNPA following extensive consultation with the public and various partners.
Copies of the Deposit Local Plan and representation forms are available online here or from the CNPA offices in Ballater or Grantown-on-Spey. The document is also available for inspection at local authority offices and libraries throughout the Park.
