Local community invited to Kingussie drop-in event

18th October 2024

As part of Cairngorms 2030 the Park Authority are hosting a drop in event in Kingussie on Tuesday 29 October at the Iona Gallery for members of the local community and surrounding area to learn more about current and upcoming projects.

Local residents are invited to attend between 2 and 7pm to find out about work happening across a range of areas, from sustainable travel to nature restoration, health walks to volunteer opportunities, and to share their views and priorities for the area.

Projects from a range of themes across Cairngorms 2030 will be present on the day, giving communities the chance to find out more about:

  • How pupils at Kingussie High School are taking action on climate change
  • Nature prescriptions in Badenoch, and the UK’s first Outdoor Dementia Resource Centre
  • The next Local Development Plan
  • Sustainable travel initiatives in the area
  • Nature restoration and nature friendly farming
  • Our landscape and communities project, with a chance to share your favourite Cairngorms view
  • Information on funding opportunities through the Cairngorms Trust

Plus, there will be the opportunity to learn decorative repair skills for people to upcycle their wardrobe this Autumn with free drop-in activities from Learn and Create, coffee, cake, and autumnal activities for the kids!

Cairngorms 2030 is putting the power to tackle the climate and nature crises in the hands of people who live, visit and work in the UK’s largest national park. Across 20 long-term projects, Cairngorms 2030 will bring about transformational change in the Cairngorms, benefitting people’s health and wellbeing, delivering on climate change and enhancing nature across the National Park.

Cairngorms 2030 is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to National Lottery players.
