Local Plan for the Park – consultation gets underway

9th September 2004

Around 12,000 leaflets and questionnaires are being delivered to households in the Park encouraging residents to ‘have their say’ on the future development of where they live, work and play.

The Cairngorms Local Plan will replace those currently in existence for the four local authority areas of the National Park – Highland, Moray, Aberdeenshire and Angus, and will determine how future land-use development will occur in our local communities with detailed maps and policies.

Delivery of local community profiles and questionnaires has already started and a series of meetings will take place throughout the Park in October and December.

The CNPA is also charged with producing a National Park Plan which will spell out the policies and strategies for the Park for the next five years covering a wide range of issues. The Park Plan will provide the strategic context for the Local Plan. Information gathered during the Local Plan consultation will feed into the National Park Plan, so people wil be contributing to both.
