The Speyside Way Management Group is stepping up its efforts to extend the long-distance route from its current end in Aviemore on to Newtonmore and has employed Alastair MacLeod, former District Forester with the Forestry Commission, in the challenging new role of Development Officer. Mr MacLeod said:
“I am looking forward to the challenge of trying to bring the many threads together to establish a cohesive route for the Speyside Way. We have to work with all of the interests in the area to develop a route that is satisfactory for everyone.”
One of his first tasks will be to look at all the potential options, both on paper and on the ground, and he will consult with landowners, communities, path groups and other interested parties.
