Landscape Character Assessment

Landscape Framework

2nd February, 2010

The Cairngorms National Park Landscape Framework, which is being developed over the next couple of years, is a tool for conserving and enhancing the special qualities of the Park. It is due for publication in April 2012.

The  basic structure of the Framework will be provided by the Landscape Character Assessment study, which was commissioned by the CNPA in partnership with the British Geological Survey and the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland. This study was published in December 2009 and contains detailed descriptions of the Landscape Character Areas with the Park – all of which are formed by the topography, land use history, settlement and development pattern and the way in which people experience the landscape.
